AV Technician Job description


Work involves assisting with providing computing and technical support to end-users which may be related to a variety of areas. Employees generally work with higher-level technicians to support hardware or software and may include desktop computers to servers and limited systems work. The work may include software training, technical advice, and support,
LAN/server support, and troubleshooting. Software support may include installation,
troubleshooting, or departmental website construction, maintenance, and support. As a guide, the minimum education and experience: generally graduation from high school and four years of related experience.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have some knowledge about the basic operation of audiovisual equipment
Must have basic knowledge of computer systems, e.g. proficiency in Windows and/or OS/X, able to connect a computer/laptop to a projector, connect to a wireless network, etc.
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position
Familiar with hard drive imaging programs, Microsoft Office and Windows
Knowledge of Windows Deployment Services a plus
Preferred formal education or training, professional skills, and work experience
Applicant must have a minimum of high school education (some higher education preferred)
Applicant should have at least a year of experience in the audiovisual industry and have experience in the operation of audio, video, or lighting systems
In addition, a preferred applicant will have an understanding of AV concepts such as mixing multiple audio signals, audio equalization, digital vs. analog signals, lighting for film or theater, computer networking and wireless technology
